1. What Kaptions does

Kaptions is a browser-based caption studio. You upload a video, audio is extracted in your browser and transcribed into word-timed captions, you style the captions, and you export a captioned MP4.

2. Data we collect

• Account data: when you sign in with Google we receive your name, email address, and profile image. We store your plan (Free, Starter, Pro, Creator) and project entitlements.
• Videos and projects: your uploaded videos, transcripts, and caption projects are stored in your own browser (IndexedDB). They stay on your device — we do not upload your raw video to our servers.
• Transcription audio: only the extracted audio track is sent to our speech-to-text providers (Sarvam AI, with Smallest AI as fallback) to generate your transcript.
• Payment data: subscriptions are processed by Dodo Payments. We never see or store your card details.

3. Cookies

We use strictly necessary session cookies to keep you signed in (7-day sessions, secure and HTTP-only in production). We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

4. How we use your data

• Provide, operate, and improve the caption studio.
• Transcribe audio you choose to process.
• Enforce plan limits and process subscriptions.
• Prevent abuse and keep the service secure.

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use your videos to train models.

5. Data sharing

We share data only where needed to run the service: Google for sign-in, and our payment processor for subscriptions and user authentication.

6. Your rights

You can access, correct, or delete your account data at any time by contacting us. Deleting your browser storage removes your local videos and projects from that device. To delete your account and server-side data, email support@kaptions.xyz.
